MEET OUR COACHES

Ralph McManis
Swim into Summer

Ralph have been actively coaching for over 20 years, but I have been a competitive swimmer since 13 years old.

He has previously been head coach at Newman Churchlands Swim Club and State open water coach. Many of his swimmers have gone on Olympic and International teams.

He has done 18 Rottnest crossings plus attended 2 Olympic and 3 World Championships. in a coaching, swimming and mentoring role.

What he loves about coaching is helping individuals discover how rewarding swimming can be both physically and emotionally when they achieve their goals.

Heather Whitehead
Couch to 2k

Heather has been teaching swimming since she was 13, coaching Masters for more than 30 years, and involved within Royal Lifesaving when younger.

As a Physical Education teacher she is passionate about passing on swim tips, techniques, drills to improve swimmers’ strokes and making swimming fun. Her passion lies with improving and motivating others to swim the best they can. She loves seeing the improvements after coaching and how it helps someone move through the water.

Every person in the water is there for a different reason and she loves working towards the goals that the swimmer has set themselves. It is also such an evolving sport as many swimmers join a club simply to improve one stroke, then due to the camaraderie and coaching of Masters Swimming end up competing in pool events or swimming to Rottnest.
