A Tribute to Kerensa Allason

Masters Swimming WA remembers with profound affection and gratitude the late Kerensa Allason, whose dedication, spirit, and love for the sport left a lasting imprint on our community.

Kerensa joined Masters Swimming WA in 1994 as a member of the Claremont Masters, where her passion for swimming went hand-in-hand with her generosity toward others. In 2000, she served as Club Captain, leading with enthusiasm both in and out of the pool. That same year she completed the referee’s course, extending her commitment to the sport beyond competition.

In 2001, Kerensa became a member of the Beatty Park Masters, where she remained an active, inspiring, and much-loved presence until her passing in 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. During her time with Beatty Park, she again served as captain in 2004 – the year the club proudly won the State Championships in Geraldton.

Kerensa held a special love for open water swimming, a passion that continues through the Masters Swimming WA State Open Water Championship at Mullaloo, which now bears her name. The Kerensa Allason Open Water State Championship, along with the male and female championship trophies, stands each year as a tribute to her legacy.

Her generosity also lives on through a bequest from her estate, ensuring that the Mullaloo State OWS Championships remain a highlight of the Masters Swimming WA calendar. This support provides trophies and prize money that recognise excellence and nurture the sport she held so dear.

Kerensa is remembered not only for her achievements in the water but for her warmth, leadership, and the lasting impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy continues to inspire Masters swimmers across Western Australia to embrace the joy of swimming, the spirit of competition, and the friendships that define our community.
