Physiology of a Master Swimmer

November 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Hosted by Myles Dennis
Moderator: Dr Ian Dunican

Swimming is a highly unique sport, with the environment and mechanics of the sport impacting the physiology of an athlete. Gaining a greater understanding of the way that the human body operates can be a key in improving swimming performance. In this webinar, I aim to provide some working knowledge of the human physiology for athletes at any level, with some practical recommendations around improving for functional performance.
This webinar will be hosted by Myles Dennis, PhD student (University of Western Australia and the West Australian Institute of Sport). Myles is undertaking an exercise physiology PhD by research looking at the effects of heat and altitude training on the physiology of athletes, embedded within WAIS and specifically the WAIS swimming program. This was after four years of being based at UWA, where some of my research was on cooling methods before and during exercise in the heat.

All are welcome to attend this webinar. If you cannot attend at the time, please register as you will be sent a recording of the webinar to access for 28 days after the event.
