Masters Swimming WA co-ordinates a variety of opportunities for swimmers to compete against each other through interclub carnivals. These are open to all members regardless of ability.
MORE ABOUT THE ACT BELONG COMMIT POOL MEETS
Carnival points system
At interclub swim meets you will swim against others of the same pace, regardless of age or gender. Your time is entered into our computer and graded against other swimmers in your age group (18-24, 25-29 and so-on in five-year age bands). Points are allocated from fastest to slowest and then added to determine the club with the most points and the club with the highest average point score.
Carnival relays
Each interclub carnival often includes relay events where four swimmers from each club compete as a team. The combined age of the team is placed in an age group of 72-119, 120-159, 160-199, 200-239, 240-279, 280-319, or 320-359.
Challenge events
The emphasis is on Club entry, although individual members can enter at the discretion of the host Club. The priority of these events is to provide the member with the opportunity to improve their personal best times in a range of events. Club members advise their Club Captain of which individual events they wish to swim – usually a maximum of 3.
Distance Meets
These are time trials over 400m, 800m and 1500m distances swum in long course or short course pools.
