Pathways to Accreditation
During registration, you nominated a pathway to become an accredited Masters Swimming Club Coach based on previous coaching qualifications and experience. The detailed steps required for your pathway can be viewed by following the appropriate link below.

If you have never coached before, you will need to complete the steps below.

- Complete the free Sport Australia on-line Community Coaching General Principles Course (CCGP).
- Upload your Certificate of Completion.
- Observe an adult swim squad for a minimum of 5 hours and demonstrate a basic understanding of coaching principles and practice in an adult swimming environment.
- Download the Verification of Hours form and have your club’s Head Coach, a senior coach mentor or an Aquatic Centre official verify your hours.
- Upload your signed verification of hours.
- Complete the online Development Coaching course by logging in or creating a new registration at Swimming Australia Learning Portal, then selecting Bronze Coach Accreditation Program. Scroll down to find the +Course: Development Coaching Online Course and click on the “Launch” button. The Development Coaching Online Course will cost $95. Your club may reimburse you for this cost once you are qualified. This online component can take between 5 and 15 hours to complete depending on your competency. You can complete this any time and login as often as you need.
- Upload your certificate of completion.
- Complete the online Club Coach Workshop. This workshop includes two online interactive “meetings” with your assessor. The workshop will take between 5 and 8 hours to complete depending on your competency.
- Download the Practical Pool-side Assessment Tool and complete with your Head Coach or coach mentor.
- Upload your completed and signed Practical Pool-side Assessment.
- Complete a CPR course from an authorised training provider. (HLTAID001, 002, 003, 004 or 007).
- Upload your CPR certificate.
- Download a copy of the Practical Coaching Log and complete 30 hours under the supervision or guidance of your Head or Mentor coach. You can include your observation hours from step 3 in this total.
- Upload your completed Practical Coaching Log.
- Check that you have completed all steps in this pathway and uploaded all required documentation.
- Download and complete the Club Coach Accreditation Application form.
- Upload the application form. This application will be verified by the MSWA Coach Assessor and your Club Coach Certification and Coach ID will be forwarded to you.
If you have coached adults before, you will need to complete the steps below.

- Demonstrate that you have a basic understanding of coaching principles and practice in an adult swimming environment.
- Download the Verification of Hours form and have your club’s Head Coach, a senior coach mentor or an Aquatic Centre official verify your competence. You do not need to complete any hours.
- Upload your signed verification form.
- Upload your SAL/ASCTA Bronze Coach (or higher) licence.
- Complete the online Club Coach Workshop. This workshop includes two online interactive “meetings” with your assessor. The workshop will take between 5 and 8 hours to complete depending on your competency.
- Download the Practical Pool-side Assessment Tool and complete with your Head Coach or coach mentor.

- Upload the application form. This application will be verified by the MSWA Coach Assessor and your Club Coach Certification and Coach ID will be forwarded to you.
If you have significant prior coaching qualifications and experience within the past 5 years, you can apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) following the steps below.

- Download the RCC Application form.
- Provide evidence that you currently possess an equivalent level of theoretical and practical ability across all competencies and skills as someone who has undertaken the full Club Coach Course and been deemed competent.
- Upload your RCC Application and all your supporting documentation.
- Complete any additional steps that may be required for accreditation, following a review of your documentation.
- Upload any additional evidence that you are advised is required for accreditation.
- Provide evidence of a current CPR certificate, or complete a course from an authorised training provider (HLTAID001, 002, 003, 004 or 007).
- Upload your CPR certificate.
- Check that you have completed all steps in this pathway and uploaded all required documentation.
Skills Updating & Re-accreditation
Your accreditation will be valid for four years. During that time, you will be expected to continue updating your skills.
- Download the Log Sheet template, then when you attend an approved updating activity, add it to the log and obtain verification from the co-ordinator of the activity.
- Download and complete the Club Coach Re-accreditation form.
- Upload your Log Sheet and Re-accreditation application before the expiry date on your certificate.
