Lynne Duncan

I have been a member of Masters Swimming WA (then known as AUSSI) since 1980 when I joined Maida Vale Masters.

I am married to Andrew, have 3 beautiful children, 4 gorgeous grandchildren and have lived in the Perth Hills suburb of Kalamunda since 1972.

I retired in 2013 after a career spanning 50 years working in a number of State Government agencies, primarily the then Department of Agriculture, as a Project Manager implementing Financial Management Systems.

In some form or another over the years as a member of Maida Vale Masters, I have occupied a position on the Club’s committee and am currently Secretary and Club Registrar for my club.  I am also heavily involved in organising our Lake Leschenaultia Open Water Swim which is held the 2nd Sunday in November at Lake Leschenaultia in the Perth Hills.

I first became involved with Masters Swimming WA when I accepted the role of Editor, Different Strokes, the precursor to eAlerts.  I stood down from this position in 2003 to take on the position of Director of Finance for a total of 6 years.  Rejoining the Board in 2013 following my retirement, I accepted the position of Director of Marketing before adopting the role of Director of Administration and Communication.  Following the recent Annual General Meeting I will now become responsible for the position of Director Technical – something I am very close to.

Which leads me into my other passion, Officiating.  I became a Masters Swimming Australia Referee in 2000 and have officiated at club events, Livelighter Club Challengers, State and National Event culminating with my being Meet Referee for the 2018 Nationals Swimming Championships held in Perth.

I have also been fortunate in being selected to officiate at the World Masters Championships in Kazan Russia in 2015.

In addition to the above, I am the Technical Education Coordinator, Chair of the Technical Committee for WA Masters Swimming and for a short time, the Pool Swim Meet Coordinator until a permanent appointment could be made.

I am a Life Member of Maida Vale Masters and have recently been bestowed Life Membership of Masters Swimming WA, an award that I am truly honoured by.

I hope to continue to contribute to this wonderful organisation for some while yet.
